BudaPesme

The name is misleading: BudaPesme play Bosnian sevdah and Greek rebetiko with such authenticity that you find yourself in a cafe in the Balkans, heart filled with sun, joy and sorrow. Veronika Varga (vocals) and Benedek Réti (accordion) did meet in Budapest though, and perhaps served the patrons of a kafana with heartfelt melodies in a previous life. They deliver a whiff of the old times, popular Balkan tunes in skilled and impassioned rendition.. 

Budapest Ritmo is a member of UPBEAT, the European showcase platform for world music, the showcase programme is supported and powered by UPBEAT. The showcase programme consists of 40-minute performances by jury-selected up and coming world music artists and performers. Entry to the showcase concerts is free of charge.
