Nani is one of the few artists writing new songs in the endangered Ladino language. A matriarchal Spanish-Jewish dialect from the middle ages. Her raw flamenco vocals, soft choral trombone playing and her heart breaking piano melodies capture the sounds of the marketplace and propel an almost extinct culture with culturally pertinent lyrics. With her trio, the fiery sound or Mariachi guitar & sweeping Arabic percussion unveiling a piece of history we don’t easily find in other mythology & anthropology.
Nani is booked at the Library Of Congress in September. She played at the Kennedy Center USA, the Jodhpur RIFF festival IN, BBC3 Radio Music Planet UK and represented the Netherlands @ the EU Music Festival in Vietnam. Nani showcased at Folk Alliance, APAP and NAMM USA as well as at Jazzahead DE and InJazz NL. She lectures at the London Performing Academy of Music and the Jerusalem Music Academy and founded why DIY music in 2019.
