Hilde Bjørkum was the co-founder and artistic and managing director of Førde Traditional
and World Music Festival from 1989-2018, the largest festival of its kind in Scandinavia. She
is now director of culture and sports in the municipality of Sunnfjord. She has also played an
important role in the culture scene in Norway and internationally, with work for Norway Arts
Council, the Norwegian Council for Traditional Music and Dance, European Forum of
Worldwide Music Festivals, Norway Festivals, EU’s culture programme and more. She has
been awarded with several prices for her work within the cultural field, a.o. the King’s medal
of merit and the Budapest Ritmo Award.
