Jazzanitza

Jazzanitza translates asymmetric rhythms – a distinctive feature of Bulgarian folklore – into the language of contemporary jazz, following the well-trodden paths of Bulgarian folk improvisers. Drummer and composer Borislav Petrov invited the “young lions” of ethno jazz Zhivko Vassilev and Borislav Iliev to create the perfect amalgam of jazz and Bulgarian folk.

Budapest Ritmo is a member of UPBEAT, the European showcase platform for world music, the showcase programme is supported and powered by UPBEAT. The showcase programme consists of 40-minute performances by jury-selected up and coming world music artists and performers. Entry to the showcase concerts is free of charge.
